    We talk a lot about the great security of Blackberries, but if I get my phone through a regular carrier are they really much more secure than any other phone out there? I wonder if there would be a market for a bunch of us BB10 owners to pool our resources and fund an a BES management system. It would basically be like co-operatively owning a private IT department to securely manage our phones, give us email and maintain our data.

    Is this a crazy idea?

    There are posts (here on CB and InsideBB) that describe why and how the BB10 device is more secure than the other platforms. I suggest you go read them.

    As for a private BES10/12:

    • You'd need a lot of guys to justify the cost;
    • You'd have a hard time setting it up since not everybody would want the same settings

    But if you are doing it for your large family (you, wife and four kids), has the cash to burn, by all means, kick it up a notch.
