I'm planning to try on a blackberry phone, q10 to be specific, but I'm holding back because LINE messenger isn't available on BB10 yet, and I was wondering if I sideload the app, will I receive notification?

Sideloaded, or direct loaded, Android applications have gotten better in terms of notification support. I have several that give me all of the notifications I need. I don't use Line myself, but it's quite possible that you'll get all of the notifications you want, so long as there are no Google Play services needed for the app.
