    I am unable to make changes in my contacts settings. I want to list them by first name and the lighter background. I go in and change my settings. Go out, go back in and the background is dark and the names are ordered by last name.
    Also, whenever I do a back up, I end up with duplicate and triple contact entries.

    Did you try restarting your phone after you make your changes and before you go back into your contacts app?
