With the latest OS is it now standard to be able to send group texts AND save the lists you make with a name of your OWN choosing?

I want to come back to Blackberry as you have to jump through hoops on Android to get this working and the only other phone that just does it, is (wait for it) Windows Mobile 6.1!

Group text? No. There was no feature of that yet. But if you mean broadcast, there is. As well as List in groups.

Seriously? I don't mean Broadcast and I have no idea what "List in groups" is. Groups of what?

I really cannot envisage paying over the odds for a Passport if it's incapable of a basic phone function such as Group Texting!
How strange that an ancient OS like Windows Mobile 6.1 can handle Group Texting with aplomb and yet the latest and greatest stutter and fail miserably?

First and foremost, it's a Phone. I want to use it like one - give me the bells and whistles later.

Oops sorry I thought you mean BBM. Well, yes BB10 has ability to send a group text.

Thanks for the clarification. Can you also save the lists to use later and give them names?

I hate the way (in other OS's/apps) you're forced to use a generic name or collection of names that are in the group. No use at all when you have several people in different groups. :-)

Yes when you create the group you can name it, or change the name later. Also you have the option to send a text to multiple numbers so they reply to you or make it a group so everyone sees all messages.

Go into contacts hit "new group" add people to the group. From the hub hit "compose" then "text messages" then type the name of your group into the "to" field. If you want a broadcast leave "enable group conversion" unchecked. For group txt check the box.

So now I'm trying it just since I hadn't for awhile... and I can send a group message but all recipients show just a text from me, nothing about a group. And when they reply it just goes to myself, not even into the group chat. So I'm maybe doing something wrong..... any ideas? Seems to be doing what I would expect it to do if I hadn't checked 'make group conv'...

What os are you on? It's worked well for me for a loooong time, but I do remember having issues when I first got my phone. Also I have some friends with Android phones that don't support group txts properly, so whenever they txt back it comes in separately, but the problem is with their phone.

I'm on 10.3.1.1865 and so is my wife's phone but the other one I tried grouping with is ios 8. I'm not sure what I might be missing. Do I need to delete the existing single chats I have with them? I haven't seen this before but I also haven't been doing groups. We always use bbm for that regardless which os we're on.

Can you screenshot where you can chose 'enable group conversion'?
I automatically send broadcasts, and I'm sending to all bb10 devices on 10.3.1

My phone has never had that option.
I am in Canada on Rogers network, PassportSQW100-1/10.3.2.680

    That's very cool though.

It's carrier based. Depending on your carrier it can support group messaging or not.

That's why some people have it and some don't.

If you are on 10.3.2.680 then you definitely have this option.
