my friend is purchasing blackberry DTEK50 in USA and will be using in india so will it face any challenge.

Where is he going to buy it in the USA... online? B&H Photo, Amazon.com and shop.BlackBerry.com only sell unlocked phones, so no problem there.

Issue might be with the frequency... do they match your Carrier there in India? There are two version....

You should really be buying the ROW model if you want the best 4G (LTE) coverage in India. Airtel and others use LTE band 40 and as mentioned above, band 40 is not present in the NA model.

That being said...

B&H Photo (no sales tax outside New York) is cool with a foreign credit card but US shipping address, as is Amazon. B&H also has a retail store in New York City; though I doubt they would have the DTEK50 on display, payment could be made in person over there. But if he's going to be in NYC, he might as well purchase it straight from BB's kiosk there where I would hope they have it on display. And maybe (just maybe) they stock the ROW model there.
