My Android phone just broke and needs time to be fixed
    I'm getting myself a Bold 9900
Can I use the Data plan from my android phone to use BBM services on the Bold 9900?

That's correct. Legacy BlackBerry including the bold 9900 require a bis data plan.

Anything BlackBerry 10 however can operate just fine on any standard data plan.

So basically its cheaper to use BBM on an android device than using it on a Blackberry device ,
    or is it just me?

I suppose that depends on your carrier.. here in Canada bis plans are exactly the same price as their non bis counterparts so it makes no difference, you just have to call in and have the proper code added to your account. If in your country or on your carrier they charge extra for bis.. then that statement would be accurate.. at least for legacy BlackBerry's

It's cheaper on android AND BB10, but not a legacy BlackBerry like the 9900

Some people on CB have reported being able to use data on legacy devices without a BIS plan in place--data for things that previously required BIS. This was on TMO USA.

Some carriers allow you to use standard data plans on your legacy blackberry device. I did try it on my bold and my carrier was blocking internet access but where I am BIS is way cheaper than standard data plans. If you need to use Bbm on wifi or use a standard data plan on a secure blackberry buy a blackberry 10 device or you can go for android. But Bbm works better on blackberry devices
