Can I use passport with my old BIS plan? I just need email, I don't need apps and browsing.

I don't believe the carriers are supporting it on the new devices,

Carrier permitting, you can use a BIS data plan, but you won't get the benefits of BIS. I have a BIS plan that I use for my Q10.
