My blackberry will turn on but there is only a picture of a clock on the screen an nothing happens when I press the buttons it seems to be frozen and other times when it turns on it stays on the home screen but again nothing happens when I press the buttons!! I want to connect it to a laptop via USB to access my pictures, is this possible?

Try it and see if it maps to the Z drive.
Also, if you saved your pictures to the sd card, you can remove the card and throw that into the pc to backup....

Z-Drive is Windows only and requires BB Link to be switched ON on the device and installed on the PC. If you connect only using USB the device gets (on a Windows machine) letter H or L or what you even have.

OP: Note - USB access requires USB switched ON on the device. This is a bit hidden in the settings. And when you plug it in it will again ask you if you really want that, you must confirm this.

What do you mean with "when I press the buttons", what buttons? And what should happen?
