    I have a Z10.

    I run Windows 7 Ultimate.

    I have installed Blackberry Link.

I can connect via USB and Wi-fi.

In windows/network settings I am shown 2 Local Area Network Connections.

One is the Blackberry Virtual Private Network - with a shown speed of 4.2 Gbps , the other the RJ45 to router/internet hub with a shown speed of 100Mbps.

When I connect via wi-fi to the Z10, and watch Networking in Windows Task Manager, it shown only activity on the RJ45 connection and nothing on the faster Blackberry Virtual Private Network.

    Is this right?

If so, why is the transfer speed from PC to Z10 only 1.5MB per second and from Z10 to PC 3.4MB per second?

If not, why does the Z10 not use the Blackberry VPN?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Andy

Whut? You know the BlackBerry network connection is for tethering right? As in using your mobile device to provide internet for your computer.

That VPN adapter is just for use by Blend and Link.

Thanks, I didn't know that, hence my asking the question.

SO to clarify - that connection is for the PC to connect to the internet via the Blackberry not the router/broadband?

Does that mean that the theoretical connection speed of the Z10 is 4.2Gbps? Considerable faster than my broadband?

Thanks again - I'm just getting my head round how it all works.

    Thanks.

Does that mean when connected via Wi-Fi its not going through Link?

When it is going through Link, does it then show traffic through the Blackberry VPN in Windows task manager?

Thanks again - I'm just getting my head round how it all works.

The BlackBerry VPN is not an Internet connection, but the tunnel used by your handset to your PC to access files remotely via Link, or to use Blend when your handset isn't on the same network.

All it does is give your files and emails extra protection, it doesn't grant network access.

I think that the BB VPN is really different from the normal VPN's. Been under it just like 2-3 months ago.
