I unfortunately did not back up playbook previously
Error message -Password required (Final Attempt) Enter Blackberry to continue :......... then in red the message says Incorrect Password
I have reset the ID password and this is not accepted
How can I get playbook to accept the new ID password so I can retrieve data

The password the PlayBook is asking for is not the BlackBerry ID password.

It is asking for the device password aka the development mode password aka the password you used when/if you ever sideloaded anything

Good point above!

Also If you go into settings, development mode. Disable development mode. And re-enable, you should be able to enter a new development pwd
