Having had devices back to the 957, the best keyboard is the Classic because of the size and ease of prediction. The smartest thing BlackBerry did was keep all of the word shortcuts from the early days baked into all devices. When I have to use a different make of device I find it frustrating that none of my regular substitutions that have become second nature work out of the box.

I used to think the 9900 was the best PKB....but it's the PP for me now.

I would say the classic just slightly beats the Passport for me. I find it just a lot easier to rattle off an email with the classic. I loved the touch capabilities of the Passport keyboard for some of the swiping features but as strictly a keyboard the Classic works best for me.
