What is BlackBerry data.why is it required to access BBM?

BBM needs a connection to BlackBerry's network.....

BlackBerry Data usually refers to special data plans that BBOS devcies required to work correctly. There are ways to get around having a BlackBerry Data or BIS Plan... http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...ut-bis-996682/

But generally you'll want to have a BIS or BlackBerry data plan if you are using an older BBOS powered phone. If you have a BB10 phone, there is no special data plan required to connect to BlackBerry's network so that BBM works.

Seeing as the BOLD9900 is 5 years old now... BIS should be free on these devices.. have it 'auto enabled' or something.

BIS is old as hell but still sued (even by me) for BBOS7 devices.

Still cost Carriers to provide it as it takes special hardware and licensing cost from BB.. which is why many today charge more for this service, as it is no longer "key" to increasing their customer base.

And BlackBerry sure isn't going to just give it a way..... When they stop making money on it, they will shut it all down.
