They will continue to allow BlackBerry and BlackBerry Internet Service to run. Don't worry.

It's the BlackBerry Enterprise Service they will no longer allow. This is what businesses use to secure their corporate networks. The government is obviously frustrated because they can't hack into it.

Specifically: "While the company is asking for BES to be discontinued, it was clarified that other BlackBerry services, such as BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) and BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) would be able to continue in the country."

So, regular consumers will NOT be affected.

What does this mean for a BlackBerry with foreign SIM card roaming in Pakistan and running BES? Will this also be blocked?

Agreed, only BES will be blocked by the date specified; few people here are panicking about Blackberry's foreclosure in Pakistan which is totally baseless. BES dis-continuation came as a shocking news for me and my managers too, and now we are looking for other options to be deployed instead!!!
