What's the easiest way to migrate from OS 7 to Priv? Is there a way to do the content transfer (text messages is what I'm after) directly? The "Content Transfer App" only works from OS 10 to Priv, I believe.

The Supported Devices drop-down does list several BB 7 phones but then there is this contradictory statement in the app description:

" The Content Transfer app moves data that is saved in the storage space on your BlackBerry 10 (10.2.1 and later) device.
    "

I'm guessing it means that it is the lowest build of BB10 supported.
Legacy OS 7 is a different platform.

Are you looking at the listing whilst on a BB10 device? Because there's general app description, and platform specific

Content Transfer works on OS7 devices using your SD card if you have one in the phone. We just did one in our office that way and it worked really well. Just check to make sure everything transfers locally (on the device) and then you can delete the transfer files to free up the space on the card you used

Your going to like the Priv. I use it with my 9900 or Classic on my business line and the Priv on the second line. I've had mine since launch and it gets better everyday as I learn of better apps to do things BB10 can't do.

Don't sell your 9900 it will never be out of date for fast texting and emails.

My original post is wrong. I made an incorrect assumption that it's an OS 7 phone. I just realized that the phone is the 9800, which makes it OS 6 (not OS 7). If the Supported Devices list in the Content Transfer app is to be taken at face value, the 9800 is not supported.

Would that mean that the only way to upgrade OS 6 to Priv is to do OS6 ->BB10->Priv; first migration done via BB Link and the second migration done via the Content Transfer app?

Unfortunately, the 9800 (first Torch release) can't be updated to OS7. Although the later Torch versions came with OS 7, that OS was never made available as an upgrade for the 9800

Did you search for the Content Transfer app in App World? If you find it is it available for your device and can you download it?
