I just found this old phone of mine while cleaning out my basement. It seems to work just fine. I would like to update it and if I can't get back to using this phone. How do I go about doing that? Is there anything I need to know about this phone? Is it worth using in today's smartphone world?

    Thanks.

You'll need to activate Blackberry Internet Service(BIS) from your carrier first. BIS allows you to get the most out of your legacy device.

So, I'll need to activate my phone again? There is no way to update via a BB website? Thanks for the reply.

Does BBM work? Also try accessing apps made by Blackberry (eg native twitter and facebook). They require BIS to function. If you get those 3 apps running without wifi and just a data connection, then it is highly like that you have BIS active. If not, then you'd need to enable BIS via your carrier.
