Hey people, does charging my BlackBerry Q5 overnight have any effect on the battery?

It fills it up with electricity that you can later use whole walking by iPhone users who need to change through the day .

    Sorry I had to.

If you're using the BlackBerry charger that came with the phone and you use the phone throughout the day, it's fine and most do it that way. The only risk if if you always have it on charge and never let it drain. Like a laptop, it will lose its ability to charge. For obvious reasons, not a problem with a phone.

    No, charge away.

Just make sure never to let the battery die.

Untrue. We're not dealing with nickel cadmium batteries here.

So as rumours say. Is there really some inhibitor which blocks current supply, soon as the battery reaches 100 percent.

I'd read on Lithium-ion battery - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia if I were you.

I read the article but I wanna hear it from you too diegonei. Does it really have some current inhibitor after completing 100 percent of it charge?

I have no idea. It's said to be there. It's most likely a software switch rather than an actual component.

I follow the rules of the battery. And the li-on battery can be charged as much as we like, it's discharging it fully that causes problems.

Lithium Ion can be charge anytime.whether it reaches 100% or not.like what we have in our handheld radio, after the operation we charge it although it is not yet drain.and use it even though it doesn't fully charge.

I had the same Li-ion battery for my Samsung grand duos of 2100 mAh and I used to keep it for overnight charging. After about 4 months it started to drain faster and faster. @diegonei

I'm sure examinig your apps and the App Manager will yield an answer for that - software and poor signal are the usual culprits.

That or you have a shot battery. 18 months is usually what my devices need to finally start showing "battery-wear". It's nothing too serious though.

I agree... that's why I don't know how I'll act in about two years with my Passport... but I know, I'll buy the next gen BlackBerry ;-)

    Workhorse: BlackBerry|Q10, SQN100-3, OS 10.2.2.1531; Power Workhorse: BlackBerry|Passport, SQW100-1, OS 10.3.1.2480; Germany.
