I upgraded to classic but miss my bold's small form factor. I would luv to find a way to continue using the bold. Q10 is nice but doesnt have the joy stick (cursor). I saw a video on utube that was running android on an older bb but that was dated (2012)

This is what I use to connect to Office 365 Exchange Server (BES).
I was told my only option was to move to BB OS ten devices.
I was also told BIS was to be turned off also (on pre OS ten devices).
    Was I misinformed?
Big difference between just Exchange support and BIS as a whole. BIS, surprisingly, is still around for the foreseeable future.

Anyway, BB10 devices can connect to Exchange just fine, as well as using regular data instead of specialized BIS.

Hi there. There's tonnes of us still using a Bold. Happily and easily, too, I might add.

There are some countries who have carriers which have have actually ended BIS service, I believe this is what the OP is talking about.

I just retired my curve for the second time. My z30 was down for service much of the summer. Fired up the curve. It was nice to revisit why I loved that phone although I missed how much more I can do on the 30. Fixed the 30 and now I'm again missing what the curve does better.

So no truth to the rumour that BIS will be pulled in 2017?

Where are you located? BIS has stopped services here for 2 years already. I know it will continue to shut down one territory at a time.

I've still got BIS on my 9700 on Optus in Sydney. Legacy devices still have it provisioned.

Canada here. I was on a plan with Fido from about 3 or 4 years ago which didn't have much data so inquired about newer plans.

I also asked about BIS, because I have a 9900 which on my old plan wasn't fully functional.

Tech support person said BIS is now included with all new Fido plans for the last year or so.

If you ask me, that's the opposite of being shut down.

BIS is also free now on AT&T in the US.

    .
Why is it 'surprising'? Should the several million people still using those devices get their internet access shut off, and if so why?

BlackBerry hasn't acknowledged BBOS or BIS for several years now, they've created and EOL'd several products and services in that time frame.
