The message just randomly appeared one fine morning approximately three weeks ago but nothing seems to work to get rid of it. Is there any setting I should change or anything I can do apart from doing a wipe and reloading OS?

Given your lack of details surrounding the 'the message' it's hard to say. Care to elaborate on what 'the message' is? Details could help pinpoint what it is.
My girlfriend's z10 has the same message. If you refresh the hub (5 diagonal swipe from the top right to the middle) it'll go away, but it'll come back after X minutes.
Reloading your OS should fix it, but I haven't found any other fix than that.
