I'm wondering if I can use my old Z10 charger in the car with my DTEK50?
Also, can I use my friends Samsung Galaxy Max charger in his car - the cords fit but will it pump out 1000 volts or something?

The technical answer is you should use the ones your device came with or are rated for your device which you can find highlighted in the manual..

But the other answer is.. it kind of doesn't really matter as all modern devices have regulators in them anyway to control the flow but there's still potential for damage. I've been using a PlayBook charger and haven't blown up yet but what you do is what you do.

I think I'm OK vis-a-vis the Z10 car charger and USB cable as I just noticed they bring up the same product for DTEK50 on Shopcrackberry. Different cases though, so I snagged a great deal on the smart pocket case - plus the Labour Day promo code!

For the most part, most will do. But as the other poster cautioned, stick with the original chargers. If you need to replace one, beware of cheap knockoffs. The adage that "you get what you pay for" is oh so true. Materials and craftsmanship are lacking and can lead to overcharging, excess heat and even fires.

What about wireless chargers? I've wondered if there's any specific or more appropriate for BB devices.

For example, Samsung has a fast charging stand for its Galaxy phones. Is that quite safe for a Classic do you think?

    Here's a link (Aus): https://www.jbhifi.com.au/phones/Pho...-stand/941673/

    Edit
Are the yellow tipped bb cables considered the fast charging cables still?
    Edit 2
I've just realised that the Samsung fast charger also requires the Adaptive Fast Charging Wall charger which is not included in the box with the fast charging stand (sheesh!!):
