How can I turn off the sponsored ads on BBM on dtek?
Posted via the CrackBerry App for Android
Pay a subscription. $1/month.
Unfortunately, ads appear on all non BB10 devices - even BB's own android devices.
The only ways to remove the ads are to purchase the $0.99/month subscription from the BBM shop, or purchase a BBM protected subscription which also removes the ads.
I can't figure out how to subscribe?
Open BBM, select 4 tiles at top right corner.
Thanks for the tip, but as a BB user since my 7250, this is bull****....
Emtek has the licence for BBM now. It's their show. How else can they monetize?
What about deleting BBM. No one uses it anymore. Though I could live without WhatsApp but cannot expect WA contact to move to any other messaging app. Blackberry are making it harder and harder to stay with them.

They should monetize from the BBM users on non BlackBerry phones.

That would probably be a tiny fraction of their already small user base.
Also, what makes you feel so entitled that you think you can get something for nothing?
Why would Emtek in Indonesian care what kind of phone you are using? Why should they?
Start to move on and stop using BBM.
That's the deal BlackBerry should have made right from the start. It's only fair for us BlackBerry users. We already are paying a premium for the BlackBerry software over other Androids

What company would be dumb enough to make that deal with BlackBerry?
You're paying a premium for the added security and the app suite.
Ad-free BBM was never part of the deal. Pay 99cents a month if you want to get rid of the ads.
See that's what, after buying a BlackBerry I shouldn't have to pay more to remove ads on BBM. Don't think that's unreasonable on my part as a customer.

Agreed, shame BlackBerry failed to get mass adoption of bbm and had to resort to these cheap tricks. I don't really see any ads though I just access it through the hub. Either way no one uses bbm, even though it's a great app.
CB in a nutshell.
He did pay for a BlackBerry phone... it is BlackBerry Messenger (or was). Imagine if samsung made samsung users pay for the Samsung health app... actually it's free for any device and has no ads.
The lesson here is: BlackBerry is a very ****ty company at figuring out how to monetize good software for consumers.
So because you buy a BlackBerry device we are suppose to get add free and whatever else?
Right...Money for nothing and the chick's for free..just like Dire Straits..ok. Next.

You paid money for the BlackBerry phone, you get the hub and all that software for free without ads. The assumption is that anything branded BlackBerry software for the consumer would be included at no charge on the device. Bbm is the exception because it's being licensed apparently, but it's still a ****ty deal for the consumers.
Again, does google charge pixel owners a subscription fee for their camera app? Does samsung charge samsung owners or include ads in any of their apps? In fact most of their apps are available ad free for anyone. Does Facebook charge you to use their messaging app?
This isn't about having a free lunch, people paid for BlackBerry devices and expected that BlackBerry software embedded into the phone, not optional software, would be ad free. This isn't an unreasonable expectation, especially when it's the industry standard.
It's hilarious to see you are fine with paying more and getting less though. This reminds me of the early iPhone days when people were perfectly content with not having copy / paste functionality 😂
Your stressing yourself outright! If not happy with BlackBerry just move on or take them on via legal action with all your claims and or conclusions. What stress.
The ads, and the fact I got a BBM message from someone I don't know in a language I don't speak about something I am not interested in in a week with a DTEK50 and in 10 years with BBM on all my other Blackberry's make this DTEK50 pretty much just like any other phone.
I'm buying a used Z30 and leaving the ****ty Android experience behind like the bad dream it is.
The advice to stop using BBM or the comments that no one uses it are asinine - it's great and I use it with a large group of friends and colleagues every day. If I didn't, I wouldn't have posted anything in the first place.
