Following on from Kirk or Picard, it's only logical

P.S. And please don't take this beyond the fact that Spock was also the science officer and also had his own command later. I recognize these exist... strictly a first officer argument.

    Edit: Spock OR... Riker...

Tough for me not to make the homer choice. Sorry Riker, no 907 love today. I pick Spock.

Well, Riker did have his own command (it may have been an episode, don't think it was in a full blown movie) where Picard was hallucinating and almost everyone was a Captain...

Actually there were a couple episodes, the one where Worf bounces through the difference universes, many of them had Riker in Command (Picard had died in the Borg incident) and the final episode with Picard as the old man.

Yeah and the Enterprise he commanded was pretty cool (nice word).... in that one final episode. I guess without Picard around they didn't crash the "D" into a planet.

But Spock could pinch the whiskers off Riker....

Riker did focus on the XO duties better. Spock seemed to be excused from these mundanities.

True Story. Even though they have the same title, their roles and engagement on the ship seem to be almost completely different.

That is what happens when you have a Data on board, also Riker wasn't the Science officer.

    See?! Spock of course!
Picard had to split XO and Science Officers... mainly more characters and development. Spock all that and more.
