Not better phones, but full android apps

- Who cares what you or I care about? Its about revenues, market share and profits.
BB phones can cure cancer but only cancer patients will buy.. no full apps, no phones... thats it. Simple.
01-22-15 07:34 AMLike 0 - When I see the response, I am appalled, this is the same arrogance from Jim and Mike that spelled demise for Blackberry, guess people never learn. If this is the same arrogance inside BB boardroom, we are doomed.

Z30 | 10.3.1.207201-22-15 07:53 AMLike 0 - Android runtime is still much slower than it could be.
Just compare tumblr on BB10 to almost any other Android phone (even many low end ones) and there is no comparison.
I'm still on 10.2.1, but I've heard that while more Android apps work in 10.3.x, and that apps load waay faster on 10.3.x, they don't actually run that much faster (if at all) than 10.2.1.
Or look at Kobo... super jerky and sometimes crazy load times.
Or (android) Facebook.
On the other hand, apps like Feedly, Wordpress, DI radio, Instagram, Netflix, etc... run acceptably well.

Personally I use 1, so do most of my employees and friends. My life is not so empty that I sit around, bored, thinking BlackBerry hates America, shaking like an addict going through withdrawal because Candy Crush doesn't work on my Z10. No Google play. Since I don't know what I am missing, likely it's not that important. Maybe I am getting left behind, maybe I will just go visit a neighbour, sit around the fire, drink a beer to drown my sorrows.

Now that BlackBerry wants us all to use Amazon for all our consumer apps (like tumblr), they will have to bump up the specs big-time.
Android needs good specs to run smooth, and BB10's slower runtime will need even *better* specs just to run on par with pure Android phones.

Just look at the way BlackBerry handles things with the last few PKB devices. There was leaks about the existence of these devices long ahead of their release. Official confirmation of the devices also came long before their release. Chen officially confirmed Passport II and Classic II the day after Passport I launched. So Chen confirmed Classic II before Classic I had even been released!
Now let's look at all touch. No leaks of any upcoming all touch devices. Nothing official from BlackBerry or Chen either. Not encouraging.
To me this says that touch is all bit finished. At least at the high end for the developed markets. Very disappointing.

B WORLD gets more apps every day, Amazon apps work good. Android and Apple apps are 70% games...I can bar code scan, qr scan, control my TV,translate text, music, movies etc. scan documents and manage everything through the Hub without having to cough up all my info to Google or some amature tweeker developer...all on my nice Blackberry.

They want and like the ease of look, click, download and play.. simple.
Word is out that BB isn't after the consumer so that alone is chasing away possible clients.

The same used to apply to Android. The geeks would holler "Just root it." The vast majority wouldn't and shouldn't have had to to get advanced functionality.
Android's growing strength, arguably, is that there is less of a need to root as it has matured IMHO.
But yes... the runtime puts somewhat of a damper on mass adoption IMHO, but it is what it is. People like it easy, so hopefully BB World isn't entirely done.02-12-15 11:52 PMLike 0 - IDK...So far between BlackBerry World and the Amazon app store I have just about every app I need....and I didn't have to cough up any personal information and assimilate into the Google /apple Borg. I think all blackberry needs to do is put their devices in stores under a consignment agreement so no one takes any monetary hits...kinda a win win...there is a niche privacy market here in the states that can be capitalized on.

Thing is, I tend not to trust any corporations, and as BBRY collects my information too... oh well.
For folks that don't need specialist apps, I'm sure the Runtime is okay.02-13-15 04:14 PMLike 0 -

No offense...
No learning curve, just buttons,
and the eagle-finger circling, ready to dive.
Looks like BlackBerry needs to somehow attract the "non-average" person that expects more from (his/her) phones. And I'm not talking apps, but productivity and UI features.
Telstra + Classic, Optus + PP, AT&T + PP , Verizon + Classic... why the mix, Mr. Fix? 02-15-15 02:29 AMLike 0 - I personally think BlackBerry has the best UI with gesture and hub...I feel it does everything faster and better...its pretty much why I made my purchase knowing that there were some initial app limitations. Hub is more productive and I can gesture frames faster than tap tap tap...settings tap tap tap ...BB10 is the most innovative UI I have seen. I do have some references as I have used Icrap 4 and droids. I really like BlackBerry, now I just have to get my hands on a z30 or passport.

:-)
(With regards to the topic, Android apps need some grunt to run well, especially when using a runtime - and I could really feel the difference between PP and the dual-core phones.)
