Who cares what you or I care about? Its about revenues, market share and profits.
BB phones can cure cancer but only cancer patients will buy.. no full apps, no phones... thats it. Simple.

Apples numbers don't mean anything to what I said? I'm talking about android apps lmfao...and it's all about the OS...and also I don't care about apple selling 100 million....but good marketing

When I see the response, I am appalled, this is the same arrogance from Jim and Mike that spelled demise for Blackberry, guess people never learn. If this is the same arrogance inside BB boardroom, we are doomed.

Separate the phones business as well. What Chen is doing is not smart enough. He is getting caught up in the sexiness/awesomeness of the best phones. Its the apps stupid, its the marketing stupid, its the perception stupid, its the carrier support stupid.

I know in the grand scheme of things obviously it matters but when he mentioned 100 million in sales, it had nothing to do with what I was trying to explain. We have full apps so we don't have to worry about no phones

Android runtime is still much slower than it could be.

Just compare tumblr on BB10 to almost any other Android phone (even many low end ones) and there is no comparison.

I'm still on 10.2.1, but I've heard that while more Android apps work in 10.3.x, and that apps load waay faster on 10.3.x, they don't actually run that much faster (if at all) than 10.2.1.

Or look at Kobo... super jerky and sometimes crazy load times.

    Or (android) Facebook.

On the other hand, apps like Feedly, Wordpress, DI radio, Instagram, Netflix, etc... run acceptably well.

I assume the company you own has more than 1% worldwide market share? The point I am making is who cares. What is all the fuss about? Why the hatred. If you don't like it, move on. Why go on (I am thinking of trsbbs here, since all she does is throw darts from the sidelines) telling us over and over again how stupid BB is and/or we are stupid for using one.
Personally I use 1, so do most of my employees and friends. My life is not so empty that I sit around, bored, thinking BlackBerry hates America, shaking like an addict going through withdrawal because Candy Crush doesn't work on my Z10. No Google play. Since I don't know what I am missing, likely it's not that important. Maybe I am getting left behind, maybe I will just go visit a neighbour, sit around the fire, drink a beer to drown my sorrows.

Tumblr doesn't run smoothly at all I agree but I do find android apps run better than 10.2.1. Maybe not THAT much better but better. I also believe we need better specs like the passport for the apps to run better

    100% agree.

Now that BlackBerry wants us all to use Amazon for all our consumer apps (like tumblr), they will have to bump up the specs big-time.

Android needs good specs to run smooth, and BB10's slower runtime will need even *better* specs just to run on par with pure Android phones.

I can't wait either. I'm definitely due for an upgrade. Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon, if at all.

Just look at the way BlackBerry handles things with the last few PKB devices. There was leaks about the existence of these devices long ahead of their release. Official confirmation of the devices also came long before their release. Chen officially confirmed Passport II and Classic II the day after Passport I launched. So Chen confirmed Classic II before Classic I had even been released!

Now let's look at all touch. No leaks of any upcoming all touch devices. Nothing official from BlackBerry or Chen either. Not encouraging.

To me this says that touch is all bit finished. At least at the high end for the developed markets. Very disappointing.

I'm glad I don't have a phone with a bunch of glitches and force closes...and having to root them to get rid of bloat ware and keep my private life private....screw Android. B WORLD gets more apps every day, Amazon apps work good. Android and Apple apps are 70% games...I can bar code scan, qr scan, control my TV,translate text, music, movies etc. scan documents and manage everything through the Hub without having to cough up all my info to Google or some amature tweeker developer...all on my nice Blackberry.

You have to keep in mind, your average person isn't going to buy a product they have to search for "apk's" or download snap just to get their chatsnap or instagram to work. They want and like the ease of look, click, download and play.. simple.
Word is out that BB isn't after the consumer so that alone is chasing away possible clients.

And that's totally fine...BlackBerry gives me choices if I want OMG teenager apps or not...Apple and Android come with a LOT of junk pre-installed...with NO choice other than Jail breaking or Rooting to get rid of it. They use these Apps track and monitor people and their shopping habits and teenagers that use them just don't care or are clueless...no thanks. BlackBerry doesn't need to do anything because they have a hard core user base. If friggin Nokia can stay afloat...there is no question that Blackberry is here to stay. I find it funny that Android and Apple users come to a Blackberry site just to pound the company for being terrible offering nothing good to say about Blackberry.

    Agreed.

The same used to apply to Android. The geeks would holler "Just root it." The vast majority wouldn't and shouldn't have had to to get advanced functionality.

Android's growing strength, arguably, is that there is less of a need to root as it has matured IMHO.

But yes... the runtime puts somewhat of a damper on mass adoption IMHO, but it is what it is. People like it easy, so hopefully BB World isn't entirely done.

I could see that coming a mile away when it was announced. There's not much growth in sight.

So what's the solution? Perhaps allow BlackBerry 10 to run Windows 10 apps??

IDK...So far between BlackBerry World and the Amazon app store I have just about every app I need....and I didn't have to cough up any personal information and assimilate into the Google /apple Borg. I think all blackberry needs to do is put their devices in stores under a consignment agreement so no one takes any monetary hits...kinda a win win...there is a niche privacy market here in the states that can be capitalized on.

    I hear ya.

Thing is, I tend not to trust any corporations, and as BBRY collects my information too... oh well.

For folks that don't need specialist apps, I'm sure the Runtime is okay.

    Monkey see, monkey tap... :-)

    No offense...

    No learning curve, just buttons,
and the eagle-finger circling, ready to dive.

Looks like BlackBerry needs to somehow attract the "non-average" person that expects more from (his/her) phones. And I'm not talking apps, but productivity and UI features.

I personally think BlackBerry has the best UI with gesture and hub...I feel it does everything faster and better...its pretty much why I made my purchase knowing that there were some initial app limitations. Hub is more productive and I can gesture frames faster than tap tap tap...settings tap tap tap ...BB10 is the most innovative UI I have seen. I do have some references as I have used Icrap 4 and droids. I really like BlackBerry, now I just have to get my hands on a z30 or passport.

May I suggest the Passport, sir?

    :-)

(With regards to the topic, Android apps need some grunt to run well, especially when using a runtime - and I could really feel the difference between PP and the dual-core phones.)
