They are focused on what they need to right now, reorganization, restructuring, and getting their ducks in a row, at all levels. Advertising will come when they know where they are headed, and are ready for everyone to know.

Although the company has other focuses, it still would be nice to see a little advertising....but I get it

I think it's a bit late to be advertising those phones. With the money they have left it would be utterly wasted. Better to keep it by for upcoming releases.

meh, just throw some dirty chick up on the screen with her bigguns peeking out from the bottom of her T, while she molests a Q10 and ravishes a Z30, and BB is golden.

Nobody will care what she says, it's all in the visuals. She might as well BLAH BLAH BLAH while she fingers and noodles with the merchandise.

That's the extent at which boys/men are so easy prey when it comes to marketing.

Trying to sell to females is a bit more effort. Perhaps half naked boys flexing their muscles while pushing them Q10 keys, or sensually caressing the likes of the touchscreen keyboard while perusing half naked chicks... the likes of which even hetero chickies might make exceptions for.

It's basic marketing 101. If you can't sell sex, wtf can you sell?

In this market for a brand to survive you HAVE to advertise.
Not advertising the Z30 just makes no sense.
This advertising money is not wasted.

    Think about this:

When BB10 launched and BB was in its "$3 billion cash and no debt!!!" chest-beating phase, you'd think they'd spare no expense to market the hell out of the phones. Instead, we saw:

    - An utterly pointless and ill-timed Superbowl ad
    - A similarly pointless "collaboration" with a singer who hasn't had a major hit in many years
    - Carriers placing BBs in dark corners of the stores while iPhones, Galaxies and HTCs took center stage
    - Heins saying that 2,000 Q10s sold at Carphone Warehouse meant 10s of millions would be sold worldwide.

How much better do you think the marketing is going to be now that BB has tightened the purse strings and that half their cash reserves were acquired by going into debt?

Also, advertising does little good when consumers go into carrier stores and the phones aren't even available there. They'd just be driving sales of their competitors' phones. In the US at least, without carrier support, you're only going to sell to people who are already fanboys of BB, because 98% of people buy their phone from a carrier in a carrier store.
