Did you just say he got paid 4Kbytes?

Yes 4096 bytes of memory (4Kb) was what he got paid. I read this a while back but now I can't find the link.

Remember that this was in the days when a TRS-80 Mk1 was delivered with 4Kb. I manually (with a soldering iron) upgraded mine to a massive 16Kb.

I had two floppy disks of 80Kb each.
