Stolen iPhone E-Mails Pic Back To Owner

    Smile, you're on candid camera!

A woman in Britain inadvertently took her photo when she tried to unlock a stolen iPhone -- and the phone e-mailed the photo, and her location, to its owner.

Sussex police released the photo Monday. The photo was taken by an iPhone that was stolen from the Coalition nightclub in Brighton earlier in December, police said.

The phone's owner had installed an app that takes a photo of anyone who tries to unlock it, maps the phone's location and e-mails that information to the owner, police said.

"We know where and when the photo was taken and it appears to be in a vehicle with quite a large sunroof," PC Gavin Crute said in a release. "We don't know that the woman is the person who stole the camera, but she obviously has had some connection with it in the meantime and I'd like to speak to her about it."
How long before this can be made available with the i5, I'd really like to see Apple implement the return picture feature to the Find My iPhone app.

That's neat. It would have been funnier if it was a police officer or a relative.

I have an app on my Galaxy SIII that will activate both cameras and set off a blaring alarm even if set to silent, and email pics if lost or stolen, including anyone attempting to use it, and activate GPS logging to track it down. With a text, I can also remotely wipe the phone.

    Technology is definitely getting better!

With all that noise notifying the thief wouldn't he just turn off the phone? or toss it in a river? Stealthy is surely the way to go.

I doubt it would be all that loud because the S3 isn't very loud.
