I'm selling my iphone since I'm getting a BlackBerry Bold. I was wondering how do I wipe/delete all of my data off my first-generation 8GB iPhone? I want it to go back to factory settings and defauts.

Best way is to plug it into iTunes and hit the Restore button.

But isn't there a more complex way to do it? I mean, can't someone hack it and find out all of my information?

Well... find the link on YouTube on "How to put the iPhone 3g in DFU mode"

When you do this, everything will be wiped.

So will this process wok for the non-3G iPhone? What's the difference between this way and the iTunes Restore way?

Oh... oops. Yes it does. You can change it to 2g and it is the same process.

It is suppose to completely wipe the device, including those bits of informing you were referring to.

So once the "Connect to iTunes" sign comes up on the iPhone's screen, all I have to do is connect it to iTunes and hit restore on iTunes?

I also noticed that if you go to Setting and General, there is an icon at the bottom which reads "Reset." Can I just reset it that way? Or is the iTunes restore way better?

You shouldn't get that message in DFU Mode.

You can, that's how I've done it. But you made that statement about hackers getting itty bitty pieces of info. DFU is suppose to wipe the whole device; no stored fragments.

    Ok. I'll do DFU.
