My company supplies smart phones(droids) for upper level employees, i turned it down and asked for an air card and dumb phone instead. I have my own smart phone so that way they cannot regulate what i do with it.

Maybe I'm missing something but where does that article touch on risk at work? Other than "being lost or stolen" which applies anywhere, not just at work.

I was hoping for something informative or technical and was greatly disappointed.

    Am I missing something?

Being in sales my devices make me money(and I'm subsidized). Why would anyone use their personal device for work if there wasn't a financial compensation.
Those people who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.

Well for one, my company provides smartphones, but most of my work is done in the field so i am never near a network connection, so in the end why would my company pay for an android and an air card for me? in my perspective i had my smartphone before i started this job and there is no point in me having a second one, my dumbphone sits on my table and use it when i need it. The only time i use my personal device for work is when i need to answer a quick email while i dont have my laptop up and running which is rare since normally it sits in a mount in the truck now.
