Same can be said on most products today, once you find something that works...

That said, screen size is one feature where Samsung is killing iPhone sales.

I don't see the low end being a problem in the US market, because you can normally get last years device pretty cheap. But set a iPhone5 next to a SG4 and those few millimeters of screen difference are notable. Their problem lies in pricing... would you pay $100 more for a 4.5" iPhone? Or would you expect them to price it competitively with other 4.5" devices and mark the standard iPhone down in price (and profits)?

I think Apple is more worried about setting the bar and making extreme profits than they are beating Samsung in sales.

The styling has evolved but they do follow a common paradigm. I remember Tim Stevens of Engadget once complaining that "all BlackBerrys looked the same since the dawn of time" and when called on it, then proceeded to suggest iPhones had changed their appearance pretty noticeably

Made me laugh quite a bit. Particularly if you put a Pearl beside a Torch, beside a Style, beside a Z10 beside a 7000 series ;-)

iOS 7 is a pretty marked departure from previous iterations

not to mention putting the front facing camera on the iphone5 and proposed 5S and later coming 5C in the right place
