Need help!!!

Ok, I am OK with BB but totally unfamiliar with IPhones but I figured id try and help out a friend. His 3g Iphone has a white screen/no logo/nothing shows up BUT the alarm goes off and it you hit the screen right the MP3 works and you can get other things to happen. SO the screen is responsive and the hardware is responsive but it looks as if the screen just doesn't work. I connected to Itunes and it recognizes it as well. Any suggestions????

try rebooting the iphone- hold the home button and the button on top for 30 plus seconds.
or
Connect to itunes and choose restore.

or Make an appt at the genius bar at the apple store

Drain the battery, when you try to boot you should then get the low battery warning and it should work once you charge it back up

Put it into DFU mode and restore via itunes

Doesn't work. This happened to me and literally none of the commands worked. The screen was responsive but showed up as white, different combinations of holding home/sleep for however long just made it restart.
