I use google talk as my primary means of communication. does the iphone have an always open gtalk live my berry does or is it a web based app that you have to sign into and occupy your broswer with?

I know the only app on the phone that I found so far was AIM, the rest are still web based. I haven't seen any future plans but I play around with a touch so I have my eyes open as well.

Like the others have stated, not yet at least. Periodically check google.com/m and the iTunes App store.

So how does the charge $$$ hit you when using AIM? Like per text message sent and rec. or free???

AIM goes over data, and a data plan is a requirement of having the iPhone 3G, so there is no extra charge for IM.
