Ipad 2 or ipad 3 - which is better
Anyone ipad user ... Which is better ipad 2 or ipad 3??
Thanks - 05-17-2012, 06:20 AM #2
Depends on what you consider better. Of course the 3 is newer, better display and minor upgrades from the 2.

If a 2 fits what you need, go for it. You can definitely get good deals on them. All of the increases in app/file sizes are universal though, regardless if you get a 2 or 3. If you're going to be giving up the space for the larger files anyway, you might as well reap the benefits. (i.e. better screen and camera)
The change in weight/thickness is marginal. It gets warm, but nothing at an alarming rate that I've noticed.
To me, going from a 2 to a 3 is unnecessary... although that's exactly what I did. If I'm getting my first one, though, I'd go for the 3."WHAT I TELL YOU ABOUT THEM &$@?DAMN LIGHTS?!" - Teddy Pendergrass

I went from an iPad 1 to the 3. Never used a 2, but this thing blows my old iPad 1 out of the water.

I bought an iPad2 immediately after the 3 was announced. I got it for $200 off retail price on sale from Apple. I'd save the cash and get a refurb iPad2.

If money is no object, the 3 is a no brainer. If it's your first ipad, and you want to save a few bucks and have not seen the 3, you will be happy with the 2.

I use my iPad everyday. I went to buy the new one, put the 2 next to the new ipad and I couldn't justify the expense. Yes the new one is better but not that much. Also weight & size are important to me, I carry mine everyday.

iPad 2 is a better value. iPad 3 is more expensive, heavier hotter and newer. The display when the two are side by side is noticeably better on the 3. If heavier, hotter and more expensive is a nonissue then the 3 is the way to go.

The new iPad 2's have a better battery than the 2 refurbs, so keep that in mind. After the 3 was announced, Apple went back and improved the 2's battery. No announcement or anything, just taking care of loyal customers.

I have the iPad 2, and its very stable and does what I need it to do. Obviously the retina display is plus but not highly needed

Depends on what you want to do. If you need more horsepower and want a high res display than go iPad 3. if you are browsing the web, sending email, and occasionally watching a movie, then iPad 2 will probably be fine for you.
O yeah, if you want 4G LTE then you need iPad 3.Yes Dude! Yes Dude! Yes Dude! - 06-01-2012, 08:57 PM #17
For $319 for a 16GB refurb, the iPad2 offers the best value for the money.
