The LED flash on the back of your phone for your camera can be set to "flash" if you get a new message, call, etc.

It's a way for you to see that you have something new when your phone is on silent and face down. Kinda the closest thing Apple has to BlackBerrys' LED light on the front.

Tested several different ways (Text, Call, silent mode with vibrate off, silent with vibrate on, not silent). Doesn't work. Didn't work the other day.

Might check out one of the freebie apps for LED alerts. I have to say tho, I'm kind of liking not having flashing lights going off all the time. (Used them heavily on my Bold.)

The two I miss most are tasks (heavily used) and severe weather. Absolutely will miss the LED weather alerts. They come via email too, but I must prefer the blinking LED so I catch them right away.

I use to miss the LED from my BlackBerry...

But, not anymore. I don't think it is worth it on the back of the device.
