So, my brother's logic board in his 3gs went out. It's going to cost 400.00 to fix it. Well we're not going to do that. I called att to get an early/exceptional upgrade as my moms line is available in October. They said it would be 399.99 with the exceptional upgrade at a higher price. what the crap is up with that? Why can't we get it for 199 + the exceptional upgrade price.

lol. NO. I'm just ticked. Everyone else can call and get it going through right then and there, but it seems I've tried everything and nothings getting done. Kinda wondering if anyone else has had the problem.

AT&T charges 199 for the device and 200 for an early upgrade, bottom line.

Doesnt work that way with the iphone

You pay 199/299 with a 2 year contract, 399/499 for early upgrade, or 599/699 full price, PERIOD.

Im sorry you feel entitled that ATT owes you something here. If the phone magically died why not bring it to an Apple store to look at. Maybe theyll feel bad and fix it; a 3GS cant be that long out of Applecare 1 year warranty seeing as it was released in June 2009.

If your Mom isn't that partial to her telephone number, add a line and drop hers in October. That's only going to cost you an extra $20 for the line. If she is partial to her number, I got nothin!

    1) $75 upgrade fee only applies to devices that are not iPhone. Early upgrades on iPhone cost the price of the phone + $200.

    2) How about just buying a 3GS from eBay or craiglist? I just bought a 16GB for 175.

I'm not sure why you would want to use an upgrade on a line when you can buy a used one, pay the same amount and not extend your contract. In my opinion, that would be the way to go.

He will lose his unlimited data then, so that's not an option.

Because he doesn't want the 3Gs. He wants the ip4. 500+ without contract

Well he will just have to wait until he's eligible for a full upgrade or pay the early upgrade price. He can also add a line and then swap the phone over to his line so he keeps his unlimited data and gets the phone for 200. The 200 dollars saved basically covers for the extra 10 bucks the new line would cost per month. At&t doesn't care if you swap it to another line as long as they got you on contract.
