Apparently this whole Android thing is working out pretty well for Samsung. 35 million smartphones sold this quarter! I think that beats Apple probably by 3-4 million units for this quarter, and puts them solidly in first place still in units sold. (Apple probably will still lead in actual smartphone revenue when they post their results in 3 weeks). Before Android, they were nowhere in this market.
Overall Samsung posted a record profit of $4.5B. Pretty impressive quarter in spite of the overall economic conditions.
With Android, Samsung has become a leading brand in the mobile world. They are at the top of their game. This is most definitely good news. I'm also rooting for the competition Apple, HTC and Motorola. I want to see these companies do just as good in the near future.
