I've only had my iPhone for a few days does AT&T have a number like verizon did to unpdate your coverage like the # 228 for verizon?

Short answer no. Shutting the phone off and then turning it back "on" will cause it to update. Also, AT&T will update cellular system info through itunes. Connect iphone to itunes and click on check for update.
