Default Apple Patents Plastic iPhone Without Home Button

Not sure if this been posted since the article was on Feb, 3rd so delete this if it has been posted ..

Iphones rumored low end phones with no home button, also talks about apples new patents passed. Whatchu guys think ?

Apple has never released a non home button iphones before or even a low end phones. Obviously, this is due to their poor sales recently. I wonder how the phone will turn out.

Not sure if it says more about the dire state of the patent process, or the dire state of Apple.
The latter is good news however, as we the great unwashed are understanding more about the true nature of Apple....

How and why did the US Patent Office accept this BS?!?!

I'm pretty sure a patent, to be validated, needs to be unique in some way.... how is a rectangular box in any way unique.

They're just giving Apple more reasons to waste the court system's time with specious, spurious and malicious law suits.

People complain about Apple patenting rediculous things (the rectangle with rounded edges), but if the US Patent Office would stop accepting their crap as well, that could only help.

Why no home button though? Isn't it crucial to iOS?

No reason to waste money like that. I don't think bb has a 'plastic phone without a home button' patented

That's a strategic move to tell people phones without a home button are low end ...

    Z10 STL100-4 OS v10.1.0.2009
    Playbook OS v2.1.0.1526
Why is the Z10 Bridge worse then it was on my 9850?

I will enjoy seeing those patents auctioned off just before the apple headquarters building implodes to make room for BlackBerry's west-coast US office and datacenter.
A new paradigm is coming. Can you feel the shifting zeitgeist?

Apple's home button may be going away, but so are BlackBerry's data centres. With BIS and Apple on their way out, the California coast will be littered with vacant buildings of bankrupt green-power companies!

Thats not how this works. Allow me to give a rough outline of how the tech world works when it comes to Apple:

    1. Company XXXX invents something

    2. Said invention proves there's a bit of a market

    3. Apple's lawyers then patent said idea after the fact

    4. Apple then sues the original inventor!

Wait for Apple to sue BB over the "Home button less" Z10

It's a stupid thing to patent, but the way things are going with patents - you need to protect yourself.

It would be monumentally stupid of RIM if they didn't already attempt to patent it.

Apple's already testing the limits of the US Patent office with many of their recent patents being re-examined including the infamous "rectangle with slightly rounded corners" one. They can continue patenting what ever they like as far as I'm concerned, they're only digging their own grave deeper.

Interesting that in recent interviews TH has said that part of BlackBerry's focus in the next few years is the annihilation (my word) of patent trolls, I wonder if Apple is considered one of them?

Would BlackBerry phones be covered under "prior artwork" since they had leaked images of buttonless BB10 phones a long time ago?
