Apple has quietly increased the limit for over-the-air downloads from the App Store and iTunes Store on the iPhone. Until recently only content under 10MB in size could be downloaded over an EDGE or 3G connectiondownloading of larger apps and media content had to be done over Wi-Fi. This limit now appears to have been increased to 20MB in both the App Store and iTunes Store on the device, allowing users to download larger applications and video content. The exact reason for this change is not clear, although it could be related to the impending release of the iPad, improvements in carrier bandwidth, or simply a desire to allow users to have anywhere access to larger applications on the App Store.

Thank you! I've got a couple apps that come in at around 10.5MB and I could never download the updates...

I would have to think that ATT has something to do with this. I was under the impression they were the ones that wanted a cap in the first place.

Personally I wouldnt download anything 20mb over 3G anyways for sake of time so no biggy really.

I do think ATT is improving their 3G so theyre able to raise this number now.

*shrugs* 3G is fast here so it doesnt take that much time. WIFI is slower than 3G I think. Maybe it's cause I live in the middle of BFE.

its fast here too ~1.5-2mb down at peak times, but I guess it depends on your ISP for your internet wifi is running on too.

With comcast (12mb down on the PC) i get about 4mb down on a b/g router on the iphone so its easily twice as fast.

Pretty sure it's been 10mb for ages. I doubt they would keep the 2G at only 5mb.
