Simultaneous voice and data is a benefit of UTMS networks, not GSM (as it is voice only) or Edge. AT&T and T-Mobile have this because of their 3G networks, not GSM as it doesn't even support data.
This is not an AT&T special although they claim it is. But then AT&T makes a lot of claims that all don't hold up.
The ability to talk and surf is a GSM advantage and T-Mobile offers the same capability.
