I am unable to believe that the battery is so short lived. What will it be like in 1 year or 2. I'd personally wait for the next version. It reminds me of those cheap droid tablets, not the good ones, that last an hour or two. Is the case stainless or titanium. I would not be able to wear one if it was base metal. Hope it doesn't have copper in it. Would that be a green apple mark on the wrist. I'm in eyewear and see lots of copper issues, even with expensive glasses. Cazal eyeglasses are absolutely junk, made in Germany, cost $450+ and basically melt when worn. They get a saw blade like temple after a few months of wear. Apple better not have issues like this. I hope that the battery life was a misprint and it is much longer. Any chance that it has the same "wireless" charging as the new iPhone

So.... it's a $10.000.00 watch that tells you when to take your phone out of your pocket??

Given the number of pixels that have to be pushed and powering bluetooth or whatever radio it uses it's going to be hard to get any more than a day of battery life out of it.

I'm pretty sure there a lot of people out there who regularly wear something that costs a lot more than $10,000 with the sole purpose to look shiny and perhaps even tell the time and date.

Companies that are in the business of any kind of wrist watches are definitely concerned. Like paper organizers, cell phones, digital cameras, GPS devices, they are next in line to have their entire business replaced and don't have any technology they have response for. Swatch is trying to get into NFC payments which I'm pretty sure they have no business being in.

As for the $10K price, there are plenty of people in this world who wouldn't wear a sub $1000 watch to a party any more than you would show up in a shirt or sneakers that you got at the dollar store. If you wear that kind of jewelry then you aren't going to trade it for something that a high-school kid may have on his wrist in the same room. You're not only leaving them out but also insulting them by asking them to wear something that you can buy at Best Buy.

Personally I will always prefer my diver watch to any "smart" watch. I've taken it down 122ft diving wrecks, deep into underwater caves, and the worst water condition..the shower. The battery lasts for a couple years, I don't have to worry about charging it nightly. It doesn't need to be connected to anything to perform its intended function. It even is more convenient then my smartphone for time telling. I don't have to dig it out of my pocket to get it out, swipe or press any buttons to turn it on. Just a flick of the wrist when I need to know the time, all hands free.
Oh yea...I bought it 15 years ago and it has never needed updating.
    Sometimes old school is better.

Waste of money! Buy a real watch that won't get hacked or need updating then pass it on to your kids so they can pass it down to theirs. Can't do that with an iwaste.

Look I'll readily admit that a $10,000 gold apple watch, for me, functions exactly as a $2,000 porche design Blackberry functions.

    As a ******-detector.

But, as surely as the sun will come up tomorrow, those douches exist! And they'll buy the damn thing.

That's overly priced, for a smartwatch which function as an auxiliary to a smartphone. 10K? I'd get myself a Patel Philip or Jaeger Lecoultre. At least they get appreciated over time,no depreciate like any electronic devices.

I don't agree that it's overpriced, the market will decide that. I do agree with the rest, although not all high end watches will appreciate. In my collection only 1 has really appreciated to any great extent and that's only because it was a limited run Omega. The others have either held, or depreciated a little in value.

The Apple Watch will retain the value of it's gold content, time will tell what that is.

None of my watches have security. Except for the fact that they live on my strong side wrist next to my Glock....

It works surprisingly well. I have a 20 year old Tag Heuer, a 10 year old Omega & a fairly new Milgauss which, despite their alarming lack of security haven't been stolen... And now this Apple thingie.

I think they're possibly inventing a problem that doesn't actually exist.
