WiFi without Carrier (Sprint)

I have a Curve 8520 (I think) with Wifi, which was running on Curve. I traded in for an Epic 4G. However, we still do development on the Curve, and I'd like to be able to use the WiFi on the device.

Now, when I turn on WiFi, it is able to find our hotspot / access point, but I cannot use the browser. It always times out.

I don't want to pay for a monthly fee to sprint to just use Wifi. What do I need to do to use it as a Wifi only device?

You have a 8530. Not 8520.

Also, You need to change the browser to Hotspot mode.
Go to options and find it.

You need BIS to use the browser. If you just need internet access, try opera mini.
