Default Is there a need for BlackBerry app developers?

I am a avid mobile apps developer who has developed for iOS, Android, webOS and Windows Phone 7 on my spare time. I've approached my BES guys about exploring BB Apps for the government agency we work for. I am curious as to if there is a need for our Blackberry app developers other than just freelancing and/or porting apps from other platforms to the blackberry OS.

No, you are the stupidest *******. Get the **** out of my thread unless you have a answer ********. Not all platforms can sustain a healthy developer ecosystem.

It's an interesting question, and I would have to say yes. However... I have been most successful in just porting apps from Android. There is certainly still a sector that is BB only but it is dwindling and you would need a point of entry into the market which you seem to have.

Thanks rdkempt, I am curious if I can keep development going full time since I almost never see job postings for BlackBerry developers. I usually only see experience with BlackBerry OS as a side skill for postings for Android developer positions. It seems like those with healthy BB numbers in their BES enviroment never consider application support since the value of Having a BlackBerry is diminishing with catching up of Android and iPhones in the corporate space. **** even NIST is piloting iPhones and iPads for security testing for agency deployment.

Nationwide or in one area because if it's nationwide that is low as there 49 iOS engineer spots in single areas. And are those jobs specifically BB App developers? I can search for BB app developer jobs abd tons will come up but next to none are actual dedicated positions. There's a difference . In the DC metro area there is very little hiring for BB devs even though we probably have the highest concentration of BlackBerrys here due to all the government agencies.
