Default RIM should pay developer to get ecosystem going

The tablet OS is the best mobile OS available in terms of power and functionality, the two biggest issues with it are that they didn't get it tied into existing BB infrastructure quick enough (BIS/BES), and the lack of high quality apps. RIM needs to kick it's own developers in the *** to get apps developed and it tied into the infrastructure quicker, and RIM should be going to development companies and paying them to develop high quality apps, like they did with EA, and get them out quick IMHO. Once the ecosystem is big enough and you get enough devices fielded then you can stop paying devs and let them work off app store revenue alone. We saw these cool apps from TAT, but where are they?

RIM has to go with Quality, rather than quantity, I own an Ipad, and considering a playbook, I find that ios has lots of apps, but not many of them are useful. and a lot of apps are similar to each other in terms of function.

if RIM is able to pick and endorse the right developers, to pull a release for a group of quality apps, the playbook will soar.

RIM should have a look which app on IOS ecosystem is most used, and most popular, esp in the field of productivity, because I believe that playbook has to be a productivity machine.

as long as people perceived "there is an app for that" in playbook. this thing would be a serious contender. esp with blackberry bridge, something that differentiates playbook with other tablet.

Rim should pull it fast, so that people will get to think "there is nothing that IOS can do, that playbook can't do", even better, if playbook does better at it compared to ipad.

the question would be on the execution of the app strategy.

c'mon RIM, you guys can do it.

go for Quality, rather than app quantiy

The free PlayBook offer was successful in bringing in a good number of small devs to get the catalog started.
For better apps, devs will need access to the soon to be released native sdk. EA built their games using the NDK, they probably had early exclusive access to it.

I saw this earlier. I hope development is well under way and we'll see some soon:
