Default Help please... quick question on (platforms?)

The company i'm working for is looking to develop a application for blackberry devices and my question is... Is there one phone (platform) I could use that would be cross compatible with other device with out any issues. Ex (If they make a app for the Curve 8900 will it work for the Bold, Tour and so forth...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So after some research on the Android platform. I found out that for Android devices the OS at run time, the platform handles the loading of the correct size or density resources, based on the generalized size or density of the current device screen, and adapts them to the actual pixel map of the screen. The Blackberry is the same is it not?

Blackberry devices come in different dimensions; if you create an application for a particular dimension, then the UI should be similar across all the phones having the same chosen dimension. However, devices having different dimensions will require different UI assets.

Hence, depending upon your choice, there may be a single build for multiple devices [with a larger cod size as images for different dimensions are present in one cod] or multiple builds for each supported dimension [having a lesser cod size as images for only one dimension needs to be in the cod]

Moreover, creating an application on a lower OS number will ensure that the same code will be supported on a larger number of devices having higher or same OS versions [provided that the base OS APIs are not deprecated]
