Default Flash Builder or is there a better way?

I have been a theme developer for a few years, but I would like to create a few apps for my PlayBook. I have never developed an app before, so I am trying to figure out where to start.

It looks to me like Flash Builder 4.5 would be the easiest way to build apps, but I don't want to spend the money if there is a better way to do it. It's $700 ($1000 for me since I would upgrade my CS3 Suite). My question is, if you are a developer, would you recommend Flash Builder or another way to develop apps?

Go with HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. If you go that route, you'll not only be able to run your app on the PlayBook, but also on an iPhone and Android device.

It's free, you can use whatever editor you want, and it's the future.

building in HTML (sorry, time to ditch the 5 i think, as nobody says CSS3) is one way, the other way is using flash pro. you dont `need` to use flash builder, simply flash pro on its own is fine.

personally, paperplane is written in flash pro, however i am working on some webworks apps also. plus ya have the NDK based ones too, but as mentioned, webapps are the real future for alot of things, with NDK apps for the more intense. even windows 8 will supports webworks apps
