Developers, would this be of interest?
I'm sure many developers are aware of Amazon S3 services and the almost infinite possibilities offered for data storage at a very low cost. I use Jungledisk primarily as a "giant Dropbox" between my computers (both Windows and Linux). However, I would also like to see the ability to use S3 services on my Blackberry.
I have two ideas for this. - Build a Dropbox-like application for the Blackberry (Dropbox is currently unavailable for the BB platform) that allows access (upload and download) to Amazon S3 buckets as if they were a storage medium.
- Develop an automated backup application for the Blackberry that uses Amazon S3 as the cloud storage, something comparible to Mozy or Jungledisk.
Many companies already use S3 for backup or web storage applications so it wouldn't be difficult to sell such a product and it would be a low cost method to ensure data is backed up. Every BB device can be setup on it's own separate storage bucket and someday a server application can probably be developed to manage PINS and devices, even possibly a remote wipe.
What do you think? Would it be something initially (probably not the server app) pretty simple to code and sell?
