Default Developer Encouragement

ive only had my play book for about 4 days now but ive constantly been checking news, rumors and reports on it for awhile...

i love the device as im sure much of you who also have it also love it.. here is my take on things..

when other tablets came out the app catalog wasnt that huge for them.. but after developers see people take interest in the product that made apps for it..

its the same thing with the playbook... the user adoption isnt great because everyone is so quick to say that it doesnt have apps etc and with the kind of reports and bad press it gets in my opinion it only makes devs NOT want to jump onboard because they think no one is interested.

i bought Dead Space for the playbook the day i got it and while at work showed it off to some of my co-workers and out of the 5 that i showed... 3 now have playbooks and also bought the game..

i just think we should be more encouraging for the developers and try as much as we can as the consumer/users to get them to start push more apps out.

Unity is suppose to be on board, EA is on board etc... all we need is the support at this point...

Another reason sales people are not pushing the Playbook is that they get 500% more pay commission for selling you a motorola with a 3G plan.

I had a sales rep at Staples tell me not to get the Playbook because it was hard to use? Really, did you ever try the swipe feature? It is the easiest out there! After a few more questions he actually said that when playing videos the heads of people showed a halo! I'm not kidding. Sales people can be good but commissions just corrupt the soul of people sometimes.

Before you go to a store and see which tablet works for you, take a look at the specs. You may find, as I have, that the sales people are mostly not interested in the facts. They will tend to sell you the device with the biggest commission. Coincidence?

Why pay $50.00 per month to use your facebook or web on a road trip when you can use your Bridge? Someone is getting paid to push a product and they do it at your expense.

My wife and I have loved the Playbooks we got from day one. Powerful, Portable, Playbook is true. They should add more for less cost on device and service plans. You could buy a tablet every year for the cost of the 3G plan.

Is there an EA e-mail we can use to ask for support?

that is very true... sometimes these sales people dont even know WHAT the product can really do.. but because something else has the hype and like you said bigger commission they would try to deter the customer from what they really want and offer them something else... i really think this needs to be addressed

Oh, and they also never update the devices. Most display units I see are still running stock OS 1.0.5.

RIM has gotten alot of feedback from good to bad... they know what needs to be done and they know they have alot of high expectations from the press and stock holders and need to deliver...

the playbook is a beautiful piece of hardware and the os is still young... it can be built upon and i have high hopes that they will get it right... makes no sense beating them down more than what everyone else is doing...
