Default Designing app icon trouble.

I'm having a little dilemma with designing my application's icon. I am trying to follow a the theme RIM seems to be going with a near iPhone sized icon within the OS (seen in contacts, etc) but I am not the greatest designer. I've been searching for a template for either Photoshop or GIMP that would ease this process.

Has anyone found such a template, or willing to whip one together? I would be most grateful for whatever you can share.

here is a free online app that creates icon for the playbook. i'm sure you can use it for the BB as well.

ORISON : Apps : Icon Maker for BlackBerry PlayBook

you might have to resize the icon afterwards to 73x73 etc...

this is how I did it, using the gimp, create a image with transparent background, 128x128, draw whatever you want on it, shrink to 73x73 (or you can start directly at 73x73, but if you go bigger you can do a lot more definition on your icon) then save it as PNG, then I add it to my application (using JDE, I rightclick on my project, properties, go in Ressources and add the icon png in the Icon files section)
