Default Complete Newbie - Want to learn to develop a BB App

Hey everyone,
I've been using BB's now for almost 4 years now, and LOVE THEM! I've been wanting to see a specific application be made for BB's, but so far no one has ever made it, and my personality is such that if you want something done and done right, do it yourself. So I figured, what the heck, look into developing for BB's see how it's done. Now here's my dilemma... I've never been much of a programmer before. In fact, I got a D in my visual basic course in College. So this isn't going to be easy for me, but I am really curious and want to learn, so maybe this desire will help me push through it.

I'm a complete newbie, have never developed anything for a BB or anything else, and I haven't a clue where to start, what to use, and where to get any good training or at least some decent how to's on the web to get started. I know this is probably going to put me in way over my head, but I have to start somewhere right? If anyone has any suggestions on where to start learning, what to download to use to develop apps, please let me know. Thanks!

ouch...a D in VBasic, i dont know if BB developing is for you then, my friend.
BB developing involves java programming, which is amazingly harder compared to VBasic, a good start is on amazon, theres a couple of books on there about bb developing, sort them by highest reviews

Dont start with Java apps. Try widgets. They are pretty easy to start with. The widgets are applications just like any other bb app, but they are built using html+css+javascript.

Aaa, i cant post links. Go to blackberryDOTcom/developers, you have all the documentation there. As I said try widgets first.

Starting with widgets is a good idea if you're not code savvy, but sometimes css can trip up most newbies. I've tried to teach my friends how to code and css trips them up everytime.
