Default Adobe Air or Webkit? Developer's point of view.

Hi,

Just wondering, I have some future project into creating some playbook apps.

Just wondering which one do you recommend Air or Webkit? And for which reason?

Thanks

I've been looking into this question myself. I'm going with Air because the amount of effort for writing a program from scratch is almost the same but Air gives you access to a much larger set of APIs. I'm not coming from a Flash/ActionScript background but I'm finding that ActionScript is really not much different than JavaScript. I picked up a book on Flex 4 and I'm going through the material on the Tablet OS Dev site. Looks like a breeze.

Well, I'm a full time web developper, worked with Flash and developed a lot with jquery(javascript), and html.

So I'm simply wondering from others. Anyone knows if its easier to create some function through air? such as create a drop down menu when sliding down from the top bezel.

Ill appreciate everyone's suggestions and comments.

Thanks

I'm a Java/C/C++ developer and I'd much rather be using a traditional system programming language instead of web centric technology. If you have a Flash background I definately recommend going with AIR.

Just compare the API docs between WebWorks and AIR for the PlayBook and you will see why. One example that I have looked at is the ability of apps to handle the device going into standby or different power management modes during execution.

totally agree with you, i think thats why they use both app platforms, so you can choose which you are most comfortable with.

also i personally didnt use flash builder, i simply used flash CS5.5 for mine, then made the XML docs then compiled them using the DOS compiler, simply because i know flash better as an app than flash builder.
