Hi and thank you very much for letting me participate!

I updated to the new version and everything seems to work perfectly. I have a relatively large kdbx database and testet the write functionality and reopened it with the windows client, nothings is broken or anything, special chars in the title also work. If there is any specific thing I should test, please let me know.

It's great to have such great productivity apps and I thank you very much for you hard work on this!

As v2 editing appears to be reasonably stable now, I think KeePassB 2 has achieved the functional level of the old Android-based KeePassB. After much thinking about a more recognizable and distinct name, I found that... well, "KeePassB" is the best option

Therefore, KeePassB 2 now becomes the KeePassB. The old app, renamed to "KeePassB (Legacy)" remains available for existing users (BlackBerry World My World My Apps & Games Available). Further development will focus on the native KeePassB.

In the meanwhile, I am finishing the function for creating new databases. After that, the plan is to proceed with localization to different languages (starting with German).

    Hey guys,

Would anyone here happen to be active over on the KeePass community? I only ask as I see that KeePass' "Contributed/Unofficial KeePass Ports" seems to be out of date for their BlackBerry listings.

Was hoping someone here knew who to contact on the community to get their current "KeePassB (for BlackBerry 10 and PlayBook)" listed as the legacy app and to get the current one discussed here as the true "KeePassB".

That may just end up helping out a BlackBerry user in the end and help point them toward this app.

A couple of native apps in BB World can synchronize local storage with FTP or WebDAV servers, for example PlayCloud and Sync Backup Restore. (I have not used them personally, though.)

yes, that's true but I can't load a db from or using i.e. PlayCloud. Unless I am mistaken. Can someone confirm?

I just checked PlayCloud and WebDAV. Once you have the connection set up, navigate to the required folder and tap your .kdb(x) file -- PlayCloud downloads it and opens with KeePassB. (Unfortunately, PlayCloud Trial version shows the trial notification instead; you would need to get the full version.)

Theoretically, saving changes should also be easy. After the database has been edited and saved, return to PlayCloud's 'Transfers" list. It will show "Document has been modified" for the database file. Long-tap and choose "Save" from the context menu. Practically, however, this does not work for me at the moment. I will check what is at fault - KeePassB, PlayCloud, WebDAV server, or just a Monday morning effect...

Update: There was a compatibility issue between KeePassB and PlayCloud, which caused the latter to upload the original database instead of the modified one. I adjusted KeePassB's database saving sequence (got rid of redundant temporary files) and everything seems to work now. Also, the previous release introduced a few regressions (such as unreachable password generator) - these are now fixed, too. The update (v2.4.2) is on its way to BB World.

Thanks for the heads-up, Dave XII!

The update has just been published, and here is a video manual on how to use KeePassB with FTP/WebDAV:

Andrei, has your app ever been featured on the CrackBerry app roundup article?

If not, I think I'll fire off an email to CB staff to see if it can be featured!

Well, formally it was featured about 9 months ago. On the other hand, it was the very first beta version which could only read v2 files (no v1, no editing). So I would not mind if you nominate KeePassB again

It would be my pleasure! I have to say, what the app was then certainly is miles apart from what the app is now. Here's to hoping they feature it!

    Good news, everyone!

Today's KeePassB update introduces Multi-Copy - a unique and almost magical way to copy both username and password to any app without switching back to KeePassB.

Do you like it? Can it be improved?

    Suggestion:

Button to copy password only next to multicopy,

On wave, magically pastes the string that's stored in the clipboard

Gimmicky but a nice trick, wave to paste

Thanks! It would indeed be nice. However, as far as I am aware there is no way for an app (such as KeePassB) to perform the paste-from-clipboard action within another app. There are not even any means to detect when the user pasted something while in another app (this would have allowed us to skip the waving trick in Multi-Copy). And there seem to be no way for an app to automagically switch to (maximize) another app -- which would have saved that extra tap after Multi-Copy...

On the other hand, while these limitations are quite inconvenient for a password manager app -- they totally make sense from the security point of view. You would not want a random malicious app silently insert something into the email you are writing, would you?

Hopefully, future versions of BB10 OS will manage to provide more freedom for inter-app communication without sacrificing security...

Once in a while I receive questions about KeePassB features, supported formats, synchronization, etc. Understandably, people want to know whether KeePassB (and KeePass in general) is suitable for them before making any payments.

Therefore, I created a free trial version: KeePassB Try-and-Buy.
It has all the features of the full app, but works only for 3 days. The idea is to promote KeePassB to new users (and help them decide whether the full version is worth the investment).

So, if you ever wanted to try KeePassB but could not justify the cost -- please install the trial version and see for yourself.

Also, companies can now easily buy KeePassB for their employees. The users simply install the free version and enter activation codes purchased by the company. Voila - everybody has a fully-functional KeePassB with automatic updates

There are a few Windows 10 related discussions on KeePass forum, they might help.
